This is the month our usual columns and features take a break—too hot to read!—and we make room for our wickedly talented roster of photographers to revisit the past year, or what we simply call The Photo Issue. As Associate Photo Editor Katie Sikora writes, “whether they’ve documented a sweet opossum, an alien in a parade, a self-portrait, or snow in the French Quarter, the artist-documentarians behind the images shot them in the midst of countless other experiences and influences that come from being a living, breathing being.”
